Most rifle slings are held together with a “chicago screw”. They are called differents names, but why are they called “chicago screws”?

It all started years ago in a rifle factory in Green Bay Wis. It seems that one day the Green Bay Daily was putting togeather a story on the quality of the rifle company and the craftsmanship of the now unfamous rifle. Along about that same time The Chicago Bears were playing the local home town team the Green Bay Packers. As usual the Bears had their way with the crying Packers and beat them 40-6. People were so upset in the news room all stories got goofed up and wrong headlines went to different stories. So when the headline should of read Hardened Bolt gives strenth to our rifle—- It actually read along the lines of “Chicago Screws ……and thats the truth!!!

That type of fastener, sort of a threaded 2pc rivet, was first invented, patented, manufactured, and marketed by Chicago Screw Company.
