Hope my terminology is correct – I am a newbie at this reon thing!
I have a weird sized exterior door in my house that I need to replace as inexpensively as possible. The existing door slab is 34″ x 81¼” – inside opening of the door jamb is 34½” x 81½”.
I can get an inexpensive prehung door that is 32″ x 80″, and the outside of that jamb measures 33½” x 81½”
Would there be a problem with mounting this door into the existing door jamb?
The existing door jamb is plastered in, the rough opening frame seems to be about 3/8″ on each side and 1″ on top. In order to use that framing, I guess I would have to chip out the ¾” of plaster all around the existing door jamb that I am proposing to use as a rough opening. Clear as mud?

the only problem you might have is at the top if you have to shim up one side to make the new jamb square.
