OK I have Zero knowledge concerning brick siding. I own a 6 year old brick faced home. I noticed that a number of the red bricks were cracked and then I noticed that the builder used red clay bricks with holes throught them (the kind you can put rebar through). I’m questioning if this even meets any code requirements?
Sadly I’m the 2nd owner and even hiring an out of town inspector did not find this or any of the other issues (Yeah some were major and this guy came highly recomended and was a retired builder himself).
Please tell me if these bricks conform with code as it seems ridiculous that only 6 years and significant cracks. Plus could this be related to my water issues around the home as the water seeps down and then direct to baseement course?
Last and unrelated. Anyone know of a site for fireplace mantle and surround ideas?
