My alarm clock gains time each day about 20 minutes and the lights dim when I plug in my iron. Are these related and what can I do to correct it?

A: Time to get a new clock.
Same answer for you. Unless your alarm clock is some priceless heorloom, just get a new one. Something has obviously failed in yours and it would likely cost you more to diagnose/repair it than it would to replace it.
I’m assuming you aren’t running it on batteries.
