is adding on to a home if you have the space on the property, really more expensive than selling and purchasing a new home. Real estate is a very hot commodity right now in our city and region. The problem is I can sell mine for more, but will be paying a lot more for more home because of the demand. So the question is, what can you expect to pay for an addition onto your house, such as an additional room?

figure 45-55 dollars a square foot for a simple addition in my part of the country. you will need to talk with contractors to get the cost in your area. cost will also vary depending on what materials are used and how much of the finish work you have done by the contractor. example, painting interior and exterior will normall add to the cost of construction, but you can save by doing the painting yourself.
