Tub spout

Thank you for that reply. Unfortunately, I think I understood only 1/2 of it. I am not familiar with any plumbing terms… sorry.

I have a single handle faucet with a spout below for the water to go into the tub so, with the shower head, there are 3 parts. The peice that is sticking away from the wall is the part where the water actually comes from.

I know there is a screw under the spout which someone suggested I try tightening or loosening. Would that have any effect?
