no splicing allowed

So I guess by that I can take it that there is no way to splice the two wires.
I guess I was wrong.
I figured because all wiring would be visible and I am more or less just connecting two wires together that it would be basically the same as splicing a lamp cord together. I guess thats not allowed either.
Thanks, you saved me alot of trouble (my wife hates it when I set the place on fire).
