One of the more unique communities in the world lies just off the coast of Miami. It’s called Stiltsville, and it’s a collection of architecturally interesting homes standing above the water on stilts. Built over time since the 1930s, the homes were threatened with demolition in the late 90s until a petition drive saved the community when it was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places. You can read more about Stiltsville on its Web site, Wikipedia entry or simply look at the photos.
