ParticipantThe only word replaced this tme was ***** in latin meaning with and that is still on the banned word list. It may be a fine word to use in context with other latin words but too slangy for this site.

ParticipantI am not an HVAC tech/plumber but I can tell you, if there is any doubt about a thermocouple an HVAC tech is going to replace. Because once you have it out to test you might as well replace as all the labor has been done and your chances of a new one being defective or working intermittently is low and due to many factors there is a limited life expectancy of a thermocouple.
I found a very thorough article on Thermocouples as I was researching this for you:
http://www.marlinmfg.com/tcfundamentals.pdfThe testing of a thermocouple in place is on page 14.
As stated I am not an HVAC tech, however I have changed a thermocouple and it was simple and required basic tools.
This is very similar to what I had:
http://www.americanwaterheater.com/support/manuals/nat_tc_instr.pdfOnce you have it changed this article on lighting and adjusting a furnace pilot will work for the water heater as well:
These adjustments will work for your water heater:http://discussions.tommmymac.us/HowTo_Library/Service_a_Gas_Furnace-Subject_HVAC_Furnace-F2226.html

Participantis probably just secured at the top and that could be where the failure is occuring.
If it is not sealed at the top it might as well not be sealed at all check there before pulling out the insert.

ParticipantIf it is a cheap cabinet you can use a hammer and screwdriver or other bar and just pound the lock into the cabinet till you only have a hole.
Or if you want to continue to use the cabinet without the lock. You can drill it out.
Or you can call a lock smith and they will open and repair.
If the cabinet were open you could just replace the lock from the back side.

ParticipantMany causes. From condensation to bad flashing a roof leak rodents.
A natural by product of burning is water and if the chimney is not getting hot enough it may be that the pull is not creating enough updraft to pull all of the water and other by products out. Check your cap to make sure it is not partially blocked.
Check your furnace to make sure you have the right air mix.
then i would call a chimney sweep.Greg

See page 19 here:

Participantsometimes they freeze in place. Or an ice cube gets jammed.
Be sure the icemaker is set to “on”
And there could be ice sitting in the tray.
If you feel inside the tray where the ice is made they should be full of ice prepared for when the lever is either down or unit gets low on ice

ParticipantIt may be the oil or dye.
As the wax can generally be remove easily.I like to use a soft rag and a hair dryer to heat the wax.
Be careful as you can burn the furniture.
