Wanting to know the best water softeners out there. What’s the difference between Whirlpool & GE, other than the price? Any preferences?

Biggest difference is capacity – how large of a supply do you need? Another thing you want to look at is the iron reduction (you can literally feel the difference). Hope this helps.

Don’t go near Kinetico. The moving parts in the motor are so small and numerous that it’s like running water through a grandfather clock. The softener recharges during the day, so if you’re in the shower when it recharges, good luck getting the soap out of your eyes!

Ecowater makes Sears, GE & Northstar. When you buy an Eco, your just paying triple for a Sears unit.

I have a friend who has had a Culligan unit for 40 years! Think about that! He said when it finally breaks down he’s going to have it bronzed and put on his fireplace mantle! (With his wife’s permission, of course)
