we are trying to remove a wallpaper border from a previuosly painted plaster wall. after much steaming, all that came off was the top layer of the border paper, and what we are left with is the glue part of the paper. any suggestions on how to remove the gluey stuff, so we can continue with painting.thanks

I had good luck using a thing called a Paper Tiger –a set of wheels with sharp points– that you roll around the paper. Then I used a spray bottle mister to dampen the residue and in just a couple of minutes, scrapped the paper backing off with a wide putty knife.
