undercabinet strip lighting – where underneath?

Have some Xenon strip lighting – read somewhere that you want the strip more towards front of cabinet to avoid shadows – is the strip usually centered under the cabinet, or moved flush against the front, or flush against back?

I have been doing some looking and reading, and I have seen where they are installed in the center of the cabinets recess.

I am remodeling my home, and going to install upper and lower cabinet lighting, and I would be centering them under the cabinet..
