I use the standard kitchen/bathroom caulk and it works fine. If you are having a problem, it may be due to debris left on the surface. Make sure that all surfaces are clean, free of loose stuff and have been cleaned and any excess grease & grime removed. Also, caulk is not intended to be a filler or maintain any structural strength, if you have large holes, the caulk will come apart. Fill all large holes before caulking.
