I recently pulled the carpet and padding up in my living room and found beautiful hardwood floors. The only problem is that the padding had staples in it and i managed to remove 98% easily but the other 2% of staples I could only get half of the staple and a very small piece was broken in the floor and sticks up which if i drag my foot across it will scratch. The floors don’t need to be sanded because they are beautiful however i don’t know how to get the staple pieces out or below the surface. I have tried needle nose pliers but can’t get a good grasp.

      diagonal cutters.
don’t squeeze so hard as to cut the staple, just enough to grip it then remove using a lever action.
