I purchased Levelour mini blinds and had them cut to the correct width, and am just now getting around to shortening them. Can someone please give me detailed instructions on how to remove the extra slats and shorten them to the correct length?
Thanks!!

Actually, it is quite easy. look on the bottom of the blinds and you will see “buttons” where the strings come through the bottom. Pry the buttons loose and the strings will be there. Carefully cut the bottom knots and CAREFULLY pull the slats out one at a time until you are at the right length. I say Carefully, because if you go too far, I don’t know if you can put them back. When you have done enough, re-insert the strings into the holes of the bottom board of the blinds and stuff them inside and put the buttons back on. I’ve done it many times. I know it’s scary, but hey go for it. We gals have to stick together. Good Luck!

Hi Vicki,
Consider visiting either a local Home Center or a Blind and Shade store. Both stores should haved PLENTY of extra instructions in the trash to give you. If they don’t, go ahead and white-lie them and say you bought them a while ago from the store and your husband threw EVERYTHING out by accident. At worst, they should be able to take a good set of blinds, open the box, and make a copy for you.
My best to ya and hope this helps.

I have wide wooden blinds that have two strings running down through the slats, and the string runs through a little pulley that is positioned inside the button on the bottom of the lowest slat. Even if I am able to get that pulley loose, the strings are still running through the center of the button, so I can’t get the button off, and therefore can’t pull the strings up through the slats and remove the ones I don’t want. The strings come out of the main housing, run through the slats, around this pulley in the button, and then back up through the slats and into the main housing, then back out of it to the pull cords. I don’t know where the strings go within the housing, and I don’t want to cut them or undo the pull cords and pull the strings all the way through, ’cause I don’t know if I can get the strings back they way they belong. Does anyone know how to shorten these kinds of blinds?
Thanks,
Josh
