Removing Ceramic Wall Tile

We need to remove ceramic wall tile from around our tub. Does anyone have any tips on how to do it and still save as much of the old tile as we can. Do I take a hammer and chisel and start pounding?

cut out around the tile and remove drywall and all.
this is the fast and easy way. then replace with
dens-shield and retile.

Does anyone know how to take up a ceramic floor that was installed back in the early 1940’s. I was told that it is set in a mortar box. How do I get this up?
