I recently pulled a 1-piece Kohler toilet to remove wall paper and repaint the wall. Its ready to go back. To remove the toilet, I had to literally saw it off the floor because it was installed with A LOT of silicone caulk under the outer rim in addition to the normal wax flange. To reinstall, I propose using plumbers putty to seat the toilet and prevent rocking on the tile. Any other thoughts?

They make plastic wedges for this purpose. Check in plumbing supply. The wedges snap off for the depth you need. Then caulk them in place.

seat it in a bed of palster and tight up the flange bolts and sponge off excess plaster

thats the way plumbers do it
