I’m trying to decide how to best makeover my patio. I believe the patio is original so I assume it’s about 40 years old. It’s made of concrete with small rocks imbedded. The concrete is in 4×4 sections separated by wood (I assume that’s to prevent cracks).

I’d like to redo this patio without tearing out all the concrete. The patio is about 20×20. Can I lay tile over this? Any other suggestions on how to spruce this up?

Sure you can lay pavers over the concrete, as long as the existing concrete is in good shape all you need are a few inches of sand for a base for new pavers and raise the edge with treated lumber to keep everything nice and tight.
