My sister is trying to restore an historic house–very, very old. The project is going okay, but she has some very dirty radiators she would like painted. I went over to help her clean the radiators today so we could get paint to adhere, but I couldn’t reach most of the dirtiest surfaces. Does anybody know an effective way of cleaning a home heating radiator?

Nothing else than a brush. The same one that we use to clean a bottle.

I have a house i’m renovating it was built in the 20’s all the ceilings are made of horse hair and plaster or in some rooms a form of early gypsum type board. the room I am currantly working on has the plaster mix. I have rescraped all the loose material off the ceiling (which seems to come off in sheets)and what I have done in the past is drywall mud all of those spots, let it dry, 2 coats of kilnz, then 2 coats of latex. My home also doesn’t have any venting at the peak or under the rafters maybe this is causing too much moisture under this standing seam roof.
