painted basement walls

My house is about65 yrs old and the cement basement walls are painted. There is mold/mildew in the corners and some of the paint is chipping off. Is there any way other than scraping to get the paint off and then to waterproof the walls, what would I use? Thank you.

I need to know what is the easiest way to scrape old paint off brick walls in basement. I would like to paint them with a sealant paint.
