my husband and I rented a house on Miller’s Island in Maryland. Hurricane Isabel came through and took away that house. We have bought a new house that we got at an action. It was built in 1938 and the second floor was added sometime later. The wood floors are in really bad shape what can we do for them

You need to provide more of a description of the problems you want to resolve. I personally consider experienced tradesmen that refinish floors to be a particularly good bargain. Before tackling this DIY consider obtaining some bids for professional finishing. There are many mistakes that can be committed inexperienced people using rental equipment. Considering the investment the floor represents, it is worth hiring someone with good references.

With that said, if you have specific concerns, please post back and folks here will try to help.
