i am installing new vinyl sheeting in my condo – as well i will be installing new baseboards in the areas where the new flooring will be installed. this would be a small area in front of the entrance door and the kitchen and long storage area, the bathroom and a small adjoining vanity area as you enter the bedroom. also three closets.
they have glass doors. my question is if my 3 doors have rather narrow trim around them do i have to go with the same height for baseboards. i do like the new 3 1/4 inch boards but wonder if they would be suitable. thanks for your input.

do it. are you installing shoe mould as well or is the floor going in first and the baseboards holding the edges down?

Typically the baseboards are larger than casings… but balanced, you wouldn’t use a 8″ base with 3 1/4 casing for example, but it is larger.
It is classically driven and based in history, the golden rule for example by the Greeks. Balance & proportion.
      Quote:
“A base molding, for example, does more than just conceal a joint; first, it serves as a visual foot to the weight of the wall that rises above it; second, it MODULATES the transition between the vertical and horizontal planes of wall and floor; third, it PUNCTUATES the bottom of a wall to signal it has come to an end.”
