I have a 10-year-old house in GTA. I am in need of a new roof because of last night’s hail storm. Any experience or advice to me with this would be appreciated.
Last time when there was a problem with the roof, I poped the nail out and bent the shingle upward and installed a new roof all by myself. But I think that was not enough. And see how the roof is damaged again. I found that no matter how careful I was with separation of the above layers, the shingles themselves simply disintegrated. So I am planning to call a professional this time and install a strong slate roof shingle so that I won’t be having many problems in the future.
Any recommendations on the type of shingles, brand, life, etc and things to insist upon from the roofer. I know very little about the roofing except that I need a composite shingle and not wood.
Thanks!
