We currently have light fixture sconces next to our bathroom vanity mirrors (midway up the height of the mirror) and would like to install fixtures above the mirrors. How do we move the wiring for the new fixture and patch the old hole?
There are studs between your sconces and where you want to put the new lights. Can you go up to the attic or down to the basement to run your new wires?
You cannot just disconnect the fixture, cap off the wires and close up the box in the wall. Code requires that all connections & terminations be accessable. You probably need to find the wire feed above or below and cut it in a location where a junction box cover won’t be objectionable. -perhaps in the attic, basement or cabinet.
