Our over the stove microwave does not vent at all. There is no air flow blockage to the outside, but when we turn the vent on, it makes noise, but there is no increase in air flow. It’s brand new, just installed it ourselves and can’t find the problem.

You usually have to reorient the direction of the motor to vent to the outdoors. Most are set up to recirculate air indoors. Check the installation instructions.

Please……Post the name and model of the unit……..

Search for the manufacturer……MOST have instructions online at their web-site………..

Remove the unit and “DO IT” again……..take the motor housing off and check the wire terminals…..motor rotation……..duct openings/obstructions/alignment…..

How is it mounted ?………Modern units made to fit “all” situations often have subtle adjustments necessary to operate correctly in different configurations………Some units just hang over the stove……others built-in……

Plug it in on the “bench” and see which direction (and If !) the vent motor is blowing………

remove the “plastic wrap” from the stainless steel grease filters ? all the cardboard packing ?

** just installed it ourselves… There is no air flow blockage to the outside **

But how far is it to the outdoors and how many elbows in the ductwork is there? Is the length less than the manufacturer’s maximum recommendations and also of the diameter recommended?

There is a limit to how far any ventilation system will be able to push air under various conditions.
