I am getting Mannington’s Naturescape Canyon View vinyl flooring put in my house and am trying to do some research.

Should I go with Luan underlayment or Halex underlayment? What are the pros and cons of each? How much should I be paying per sheet for each?

How much should I be paying per square yard for the vinyl flooring?

      Thank you for your help,
      Patricia

A good quality vinyl floor should run $15 to $30 a square yard.
      Anyone else on the Halex??

If your Mannington floor hasn’t been installed yet

this will be of value to you.

Lauan is a generic term for an imported panel typically from Asia or South America. It is made from a variety of tropical woods, most common red maranti.

      Common problems.

      Delamination

      vinyl discoloration

      core voids

      dents easily

      compresses under a concentrated load.

These are inherent to the construction and species of wood. This is why vinyl manufacturers do not support its use as an underlayment.

This product was developed for use as wall paneling. check s.e.c.

Halex Underlayment is a solid core, exterior grade, birch Underlayment developed for use as an underlayment.

Halex’s HU-845-6MM is 5ply, 6MM, and caries a lifetime warranty for nearly every common underlayment problem.

Birch is almost 2X as hard and Impact resistent.

The product is processed in the U.S. over state of the art milling equipment and quality checked before it reaches the floor.

Lauan – No Warranty No guarranty
