I’ve purchased a marble table which sits on a base that is about 28″ x 17″ square (also marble). The total weight of the table and base are somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 -700 lbs. My floor joists are 2×10 SPF, 16″ on center and span 12 feet. Can I safely put the table on the floor or do I need re-inforcement to the joists first? I’ve got lots of electrical wiring running through the joists at that point, so adding joists will be difficult.
      Thanks,
      John.

Your table is light compared to things like a pool table, piano, granite counters, aquariums etc which are commonly used in living space. We could check load span tables, but I don’t think its needed in this case.

      Happy new year.
