* Hope I got your attention. A clay tile roof is not a place to install a basketball backboard.
* The ball will come down on the clay tile, and the tile will break!
* Go buy a 20ft post. Dig a 6ft hole in the ground. Stick the post (pre-treated) into the hole and cement it in, making sure it is plumb.
* Buy an post adapter to mount the backboard so that the rim is 10ft to ground.
* You’re in business with out any cracked tiles!
* I did that 30 years ago and everything looks like it was yesterday, except for the strings which have to be replaced frequently.
