Need a little help here… I am trying to install a dimmer switch in my living room. The old standard switch has 4 wires attached. 2 black, 1 white, and one copper. My new dim switch has only three wires. I am assuming that the copper wire is a ground, and the new switch doesn’t seem to have a screw for the ground. My questions is what should I do with that copper wire and to make sure that I install the switch properly!

      Thanks JB

Or is it an illuminated single pole switch ….(one switch)?

If it is not attached to any other bare copper wires in the switch box, then you should attach it to the back of the box so the box is grounded. If the box is plastic, then just push it to the back and leave it unused.
