I would like to keep my gas clothes dryer next to the
washing machine. The gas water heater is sitting right
next to the dryer. The only problem is that they are
on an inside wall of our garage with no easy venting
acess to an outside wall. Is it OK to vent the dryer
straight up through the roof? We have an asphalt shingle
roof which is about 14 ft. from the floor at the location
of the gas dryer. I would appreciate any input. Thanks,
      Robert Kohler

      Robert,

Ok to go through roof. Its best to keep the shortest run. Minimize the number of elbows you are going to use. Use rigid metal ductwork. 26 or 30 gauge is ok. DO NOT use plastic or metal flexible duct they are not the best choice. They have ridges and could cause an accumulation of lint and could cause a fire.
      Good luck, Mike

also think of the possibility of having to clean the duct out. All ducts gather some lint. Eventually it will fall to the elbow

My gas dryer is currently taking about 2 hours to dry clothes. The flame for the dryer comes on for about 45 seconds every 2 to 3 minutes. Is this normal for a gas dryer or do I have a problem?

Can a Gas Hot water heater and a Gas Dryer share the same through wall vent exit?

      Regards

      Marc
