My forced air fan blower has taken to intermittent bouts of loud squealing. At its worst, everyone in the house wakes up at night, and I have to turn the fan off. It appears to happen after the fan is on for a period of time. I was running it constantly throughout the summer until this started happening.

I think some bearings may be shot. Is there any fix for this, or am I going to have to call an HVAC company to come out and replace the blower?

Some motors take oil (small holes called oilers are present) some take grease (end caps come off – just did one like that – works good as new) and some have sealed bearings which require new bearings. You should do something now since it will get a workout this winter. Bad news is for a failure while you are not home.
