I’m getting ready to refinish the wainscoating in my
living room and dining room, which, if it follows the
fashion of the day (1915), should be oak. The floors
are maple/curly maple. In my childhood, I remember
there being large ceiling beams and these were covered
by tiles in the late 1950’s. I want to remove the
      tiles and refinish these beams.
Has anyone else taken on such a project and what
hazards should I be aware of first?
