expanding patio

I have a small porch patio (concrete on grade) that I’d like to make larger without removing existing pad. I’d like to pour a large pad of 12′ by 10′ about an inch and a half higher than the existing 3′ by 7′. Can I just encase the existing pad in the new pour? This would mean about 1 1/2 inches over the existing and 4 inches thick everywhere else. thanks, dave in nm

i would make a grid out of 3/8 inch rebar and put it down before i poured making sure this is also done in the new area also this will help strengthen it also a pad this size should have a cut in it
