We plugged something into one outlet, and all of a sudden another outlet stopped working. The breaker did not trip and the outlet we were using, still works. Its the nearby one that stopped. Any ideas?

At the back of the outlet that you plugged into. It could be that someone used the “push to connect” terminals at the back of the outlet rather than using the screw terminals. Shut off the power, remove the outlet and check the connections, they probably feed the next outlet.

      Good Luck!

“Ground it”, get it “Ground” it.

Just kidding, I would take Dodgeman’s advice as a great first step to fixing the problem.
