I’m getting a sewer like smell from by shower drain (upstairs). I guess my question is…..how do they normally do plumbing for this? do they have a trap somewhere to stop the fumes? How do I stop this foul smell in the shower stall?

Right below the shower base is a trap and assuming the shower is used it should be full of water. It’s probably soap and junk in the trap that is starting to smell. Try a drain cleaner and flush it with hot water, better would be to use a snake thru it and flush it.

I’m going to assume there is an s trap there already….and put some cleaning stuff down the drain….let it sit foa a day…then when I shower the next time, I’ll fill the shower with water by plugging the drain and then pull the plug and “flush” it. If that doesn’t work then…..I’ll try something else. Thanks for the help.
