GuestI have searched everywhere but no one seems to be able to help. My husband and I are starting our retirement home in West Plains Mo. We decided years ago that we really like the lower cost and energy efficiancy of a earth contact home, as of 8 Oct we have finished the road and have begun building the 30X40 shop/garage that will be built first, we plan to start sometime in April 98 after the well is put in on our house. It will be a three-sided earth contact home with a southern exposure to gain the most sun, can you give us any information on these types of homes and possible problems that we can avoid. I know with money and time constraints it would not be possible for you to join us on this project but any info you could give would be appreciated. My father-in-law was so impressed with our plans that 5 years ago he built his own earth contact home and it turned out wonderfull but we have several changes to the original design that we started with that every thing now is new for us.

GuestCheck out the following website: Calearth.org
I was recently at the very place featured on the website
and it was amazing. The cost of building a home
in this method is a fraction of any other method.
They have passed extensive tests, etc. -

GuestWe are looking at a house in Bonne Terre Mo. and are having the most difficult time trying to finace the whole thing. If anybody know of a lender who would do this, please let me know. The deal has really gone bad, and we were so excited to be moving to a new house. It would seem the lenders don’t want to touch these because we were told,(over and over) that they don’t hold their value. We have been approved for a loan, and when they found out it was a berm home, the whole deal fell threw.

GuestHY ; I have been around constrution all my life. i have plans to build a earth home my self.i HAVE SOME UN CONVENTIOAL IDEAS. for const. such as .pouring a concrete; three sided wall into a south east facing berm.i WOULD POUR THE WALLS 8IN THICK BY 10FT TALL. SO THAT YOUR FULL 8FT LIVING SPACE. WOULD BE BELOW GROUND LEVEL.INSULATE THE ATTIC,WITH A HIGHER LEVEL THAN WHATS CALLED FOR IN YOUR AREA. SUCH AS R35 TO R50 .THEN ISTALL A METAL OVERLAP ROOF.IT WOULD BE A MAINTANCE FREE HOUSE. BUT THE MAIN THIG TO CONSIDER IN BIULDING A EARTH HOME. IS POSTIONING .FACING THE RIGHT DIRECTION. ACCORDINTO THE SUNS AXIS AT ALL TIMES OF THE YEAR. EARTH HOMES ARE THE SMARTEST WAY TO BUILD. WITH THE HIGH COST OF ENERGY TODAY, AND ITS NOT NOT GOING TO GET ANY CHEAPER IN THE FUTURE.SO HEAT AND COOL YOUR EARTH HOME, WITH MOTHER NATURES HELP.GOOD LUCK ON YOUR HOME,LARRY,
