Creaky Floors

Is there a simple solution for fixing a creaky floor? 12 year old one-story house in very good condition sitting on an unfinished basement. I can get to the spot in the basement right underneath the creaky spot on the first floor, but I just get there and stare 🙂

I was thinking like a shim or something, but I wouldn’t know where it would go. Any help?

when you locate the squeak……take a thin wooden wedge( maybe a cedar shim )…..apply a spot of glue to the wedge and drive it between the sub-floor and the joist…….should prevent the floor from moving……causing the squeak……..doug
