I have recently inherited a china cabinet that was owned by a smoker. For 30 years this cabinet was around daily cigarette smoke. Now it is in my non-smoking home and the smell is driving me crazy!! It smells inside and out. Any tips for getting the smell of cigarette smoke out of wood? Thanks SO much for any suggestions!!

Problem with a cherry dining room set we inherited from an aunt. We aired it out for a day or two in our garage, then my wife gave it a going over with lemon Pledge. The odor all but disappeared. Now, several years later, there is no trace of odor whatsoever. Of course, the set is cherry, which has a tight grain. If your cabinet is oak, (which has an open grain) it may be a bigger problem. I would think if you could get it outside, and open it up on a nice sunny day with a breeze, it would go a long ways towards solving your problem.

      Good luck!
