I have a chimney that, when building a fire, works great
until the fire gets roaring. Then it will start filling the
house with smoke. Needles to say THIS can not be!

I have had the chimney inspected. All is sound. I have
even did a smoke check; with draft PUNKS. The draft is
OK, until, the fire gets going good…

      What Gives…

Try cracking open a window near the fireplace. A common problem with newer houses is that they are so tight, the chimney has difficulty satisfying the air flow requirements of the fire.

I;m having a similar problem (see Fireplace Backdraft). I have 3 fireplaces and can’t figure out the problem except backdrafting into the other flues…I’m hoping someone has a solution also.
