I have a light fixture, i want to put up, but it’s only a 2 wire fixture can i hook the wires up as usual, + to +, and – to -, then hook a wire to the neg, wire, and ground it , if that will make the light work without a problem.

There green wire is an grounding conductor.

it youhave older wiring just leave it unconnected.

Connecting it to the neutral wire is danagerous.

You need to purchase a homeowner’s electrical guide and brush up on theory before you start doing electrical work around the house. I think that you are confusing direct current concepts with alternating current. Household current is alternating current (AC). As such, it does not have positive and negative connections. In a 120 volt circuit you have line or power (usually black), neutral (usually white) and ground (usually either green or uninsulated).
