I took down a ceiling fan with no light and have installed another with a light. The fan works the lights do not. I know I have not wired the lights correctly, but I wired all the wires of the same color together. Any advice????

Bad news Gail. Given that your light bulb is good
and you pulled the chain for the light, you are
going to have to remove your fan again. Since you
stated that you put all of same colored wires
together, you missed a wire. On the majority of
fans, the black wire in the ceiling controls the
fan only. Usually there is a blue or red wire
that needs to be connected to the two black wires
to control the light. Also look to see if there is
an extra white wire that also needs connected, but
      usually not. Have fun!

Hi, I am looking for recommendations for a low-profile flush mount outdoor fan. I want the fan that will be the closest to my ceiling and do not need or want a light kit on it (thus, that would also give me additional headroom if i dont have that part). Problem is most “flush mount” fans or “low profile” fans still are 5-7 inches from the ceiling and the light kit base (without lights actually installed) is another 3 inches below this. I have searched the net and and don’t see any good ones from the big manufacturers that fit my needs. Anyone out there have a recommendation? Thanks!
