In the celing there is 1 white wire, 1 orange wire and 1 yellow wire. Which is which?
Is this in the US? Is it in a commercial building, apartment or single family residence?

Are you talking about the ceiling box? If so it sounds like you house is wiring with conduit and not NM (sheathed electrical cable) cable.
What was their before? And what was connected to what?
What kind of wall control (switch) is there? And what wires are in the switch box and what is connected to what?
