My Mother -in-law has a kitchen light that requires 5 60 watt light bulbs. she says they keep burning out as often as one every couple weeks. this has no fan connected to it. Any ideas would be more than welcome…..

Are the fixtures designed for that wattage? Is there excessive vibration? Is the house voltage too high?
Just some things to start with.

I doubt the socket itself will affect bulb life. You might want to try name brand bulbs, like GE or Philips. Sometimes off brand bulbs don’t last very long.
There is also the possibility that you have a bad factory run of bulbs, if they were all purchased around the same time.
I also suggest you measure your voltage. If your voltage is a little high, try using 130V bulbs. They last longer, but burn slightly dimmer for a given wattage.
