So we installed a tub enclosure around a old claw foot tub, well we ordered it online and received it put it together put it up and then we found a problem, well the ceiling in the home are really low so the pipe they sent is too long! But my question is can we cut the pipe and rethread it???? or is there another way, we’ve been to every hardware store and even talked to a plumber and he said good luck!!! can someone give me some hope for this expensive surround?

if the pipe is standard ips then yes you should be able to shorten and rethread.

trouble is i can’t see it from where i’m at.

I can’t see it either, but the ones I’ve seen before have smaller diameter drop rods.

Another option might be to buy some threaded rod, AKA all-thread that you can cut with a hacksaw to whatever length you need. You will probably want to dress it up a little, but you could enclose it in PVC or other pipe (unthreaded) cut to length.
