I want to remove the varnish from a 20 year old table top, not in bad shape but thin veneer. I do not want to remove any of the stain underneath and want to revarnish it with a protective varnish (water, alcohol etc). Can you suggest a remover or a method to use to remove this varnish-do I dare try to sand it off?
