A wood stove heats primarily by radiation and convection and must be located within the living space, vented to the outside. A wood-burning or multi-fuel furnace is designed with a heat exchanger and blower system and could be located in a garage or other exterior shelter. Is this what you mean by “outside wood burning stove”?
