Removed Tub Surround

Thanks for the suggestion. I bought a heat gun, and it helped, but mostly just brute force! It’s all off and as you suspected, there was a reason the surround was put up. Many of the tiles are missing, looks llike from a repair to the water lines. They did not sand the tiles so pulling it off once I got a good hand hold wasn’t too hard, but now I have to decide how to complete it.
