I would not waste time stripping the paint, just refinish. Sand the floor to fresh wood with a floor sander, stain, and seal. If the floor does not have tight seams it may be nearly impossible to remove all the paint between the boards. Most older floors can be refinished this way starting with a 60 or 80 grit paper and finishing to a 220. If you are doing this yourself, rent the square pad floor sander. It is less likely to gouge the floor or leave sander marks.
