I have had good results with Benjamin Moore All Purpose 100% acrylic primer. The USG (drywall brand) primer surfacer is intended for spray application and is a surface (skim) coating that contains vinyl acrylics for priming and sealing. For myself, the BM product is easier and fully reliable. Ask the store to pre-tint to make final finishing easier.
