Oil vs Latex Paint for Exterior (stripped) Wood

I hope you don’t mind another question. If I go with oil primer + oil paint, could I still paint this time of the year (Washington, DC area)? I mean because of the weather. If not, could I leave newly replaced (or stripped) wood exposed till next year? or should I prime to wait and then paint next year?

How long do you estimate a good painting job should last over trim and brick?
